We’ve had all sorts of musical folk entertain us over recent years.
But never folk musicians … until now!
We are delighted to announce that Will Finn and Rosie Calvert – an award-winning, husband-and-wife duo – are booked to appear at the Ballam Arena (our name for St Matthew’s on a charity concert night!) on FRIDAY NOVEMBER 7th.
Natives of Newcastle, Will and Rosie first came together through their love of music and rose to prominence with their acapella quartet The Teacups.
They perform traditional and contemporary folk music with variety and flair with intricate harmonies and rousing instrumentation of piano, steel pan and ukulele.
With a warm stage presence they are most defined by their spell-binding harmonies. Their arrangements have been described as “deceptively full” and their joy in singing is infectious.
Chorus songs abound and singing along is encouraged!
Audiences are immediately put at their ease by the pair’s inviting stage presence and warm banter and we eagerly look forward to the forthcoming concert … which sees our little venue included in the official tour schedule!
