Oh what a night at the Ballam Arena!

The old adage ‘always leave them wanting more’ certainly applied at the latest gig held at St Matthew’s ‘Ballam Arena’!

Our Sounds of the 60s charity concert, featuring local pop harmony band BANDIT, proved to be not only a sell-out, but also a huge success on the big night.

The group played two sets, crammed with sing-along songs from the golden era, and their enthusiastic efforts received a much-deserved standing ovation.

It was also lovely to see our audience once again welcoming guests from across the parish and the fabulous night raised £550, which will be shared between the church and local charities.

We started our entertainment programme a couple of years ago and similar events featuring the Shanty Singers and the Fylde Coast Youth Theatre have also hit the right note.

The 60s beat proved particularly popular and Tom Lawson, lead vocalist with BANDIT, said: “We thoroughly enjoyed performing at St Matthew’s. We were made most welcome and the atmosphere on the night – with great audience participation – made it very special indeed; it was great to see how much people enjoyed themselves.”

Paul Agnew, Chairman at St Matrthew said: “Feedback from far and wide has been brilliant and it is our intention to continue to hold regular concerts … watch this space for the next ‘live’ show!”
