It isn’t every day that you can book a “live concert” from within your own congregation … but that’s exactly what we’ve done for our upcoming GARDEN PARTY next month!
Keith and Janet Payne (pictured), who recently started attending services at St Matthew after moving to the Fylde Coast from Kent, are renowned musicians and founder members of the Abbey Ukulele Club.
And we’re delighted to announce that they have agreed to perform their special brand of music on SATURDAY JULY 20th (starting at 2pm).
As a young boy, Keith was taught to play the guitar by none other than the legendary Bert Weedon and he has since spent six decades as an accomplished entertainer.
He met Janet in 1970 (he was her driving instructor!) and the couple married two years later. Janet became a keen supporter of Keith at various gigs and took up a singing role within his group when she retired as a school bursar in 2010.
“We set up the Abbey Ukulele Club many years ago and decided to see if we could get a similar one going after moving north,” said Janet. “It’s gone really well and many members of the AUC will be appearing at St Matthew’s. We’re all really looking forward to putting on a special show.”
