How great was the celebration of our Queen’s Platinum Jubilee?
At Ballam, all our careful planning over nine months came to a wonderful finale with almost 100 parishioners and friends old and new joining our afternoon tea and garden party.
Of course there were the usual difficulties of weather (heavy rain the previous night!), numbers of chairs etc. However, thanks to the hard work of so many, the indoor room and outdoor marquee looked lovely, providing much room for guests to mingle.
After a toast to the health of Queen Elizabeth, a rendition of God Save the Queen (with organ accompaniment) and Grace, we enjoyed the buffet accompanied by songs representing the ‘top of the pops’ from throughout the 70-year reign.
There were games and a raffle and everyone had plenty of time to chat … and have another drink!
So, a massive ‘thank-you’ to everyone who participated and helped to organise and also to Westby and Plumpton Parish Council for their support.
A wonderful afternoon and a very fitting community tribute from Ballam to our Queen.
