Charity concert boosts LSA Lifeboat

The popular ‘Shanty Crew Singers’ were in fine voice on a welcome return visit to St Matthew’s.

And the concert of seafaring songs and good humour – enjoyed by an enthusiastic audience – raised more than £200 for the Lytham St Annes Lifeboat.

“We were fortunate to host a concert by the Shanty Crew Singers back in January 2020 and to have them back with us – and in such top form – was a real treat,” said Paul Agnew, chairman at St Matthew’s. “Our bid to hold regular entertainment at the church has been curtailed by Covid-19, but we now hope that we can get things going during the coming year.”

Roy Turner, a member of both the LSA Shanty Crew and LSA Lifeboat, said: “Performing at St Matthew’s is a joy, a real pleasure and we love playing there. Hospitality is always great and the people really join in with the spirit of the show.”
